The short version

Many of the outbound links on this site go to retailers like Amazon and to camera manufacturers like Insta360, GoPro, and DJI. Some of those links are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer may pay us a small commission. It does not cost you anything extra.

How we mark affiliate links

Every affiliate link on this site uses rel="sponsored nofollow", which tells search engines that the link is paid placement. Buttons labelled "Check price on Amazon," "Visit [brand]," and similar comparison-table CTAs are affiliate links unless otherwise noted. We also place a visible affiliate disclosure near the top of every page that contains affiliate links.

Programs we participate in

• Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Our tracking tag is narrativeclip-20. We use this for NAS units, drives, UPS units, cameras, and accessories on the Storage & Backup guides and the buyer guides.
• pCloud Partner Program. We participate in pCloud's direct partner program. Links to pCloud on our storage and backup guides are tagged sponsored nofollow. If you sign up for pCloud through one of our links, we may earn a referral commission at no extra cost to you.
• Direct affiliate programs (in progress). We are joining publisher programs with additional cloud storage, backup, and encrypted storage providers — including IDrive, Backblaze, Internxt, and NordLocker — through networks like Impact, CJ Affiliate, and PartnerStack. Until each program is approved, links to those providers on our pages are direct, non-affiliate links and are not tagged sponsored. When a program is approved we replace the link in our central registry and the page is rendered with the proper attribution.
• Hardware retailer programs. We have applied to publisher programs at B&H Photo (Avantlink), Newegg (CJ), Adorama (Rakuten), and eBay Partner Network as alternatives to Amazon for NAS and storage hardware. Until approved, those links remain direct.
• Newsletter sponsorships. The Memory Tech Brief may contain sponsored sections in the future. Sponsored content will always be clearly labelled.

What commissions do and don't change

Commissions support the site so we can keep publishing. They never decide which products we recommend, in what order, or what we say about them. If we like a product, we say so. If we don't, we say so. If a product is broken or has been discontinued, we say so even if there's no affiliate link to put in its place.

The original Narrative Clip itself has no working affiliate program — it hasn't been sold by its maker for years. We do not point readers to secondhand Narrative Clip listings as primary buying advice for that reason: the device cannot function without its cloud, which is gone.

What you can do

You can support the site by clicking through one of our affiliate links before you buy something. You can also unsubscribe an affiliate cookie or use the retailer's site directly — we still get to keep writing. We won't guilt-trip you about it.

Trademarks and brand names

"Narrative," "Memoto," "Insta360," "GoPro," "DJI," "Ray-Ban," "Meta," and other product names are trademarks of their respective owners. We use them descriptively in editorial context. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these companies.
